How to read these comparisons
Every comparison on DoseRoutine follows the same method so the pages are actually comparable to each other. We describe what each app was built for, what it costs in practice rather than at its advertised entry tier, what data you can get back out of it, and where it stops being useful for the kind of tracking our readers do — supplements, peptides, hormone therapy including TRT, GLP-1 medications and prescriptions in one schedule.
We do not score apps out of ten. A pill reminder built for a single daily prescription is not a worse product than a protocol tracker; it is a different product, and the honest answer is often that the simpler tool is the right one. Where that is the case, the comparison says so.
What we compare on
The criteria are fixed across every comparison page: how flexible the schedule engine is (daily, every-other-day, weekly injections, cycles with breaks), whether the app understands units beyond a pill count, whether it checks interactions and cites its sources, how reminders behave when you miss or snooze one, what export and deletion options exist, and how the app treats your health data.
Units: mg, mcg, IU, mL and reconstituted concentrations, not just pills
Interaction coverage and whether claims are sourced
Reminder behavior on missed, snoozed and rescheduled doses
Data export, account deletion and privacy posture
Real cost after the free tier ends
Keeping the pages current
Apps change. Pricing moves, features ship, and a limitation we noted can disappear in a release. Each comparison carries the date it was last reviewed, and we re-check pricing and feature claims on a rolling schedule rather than writing once and leaving the page to rot. If you spot something out of date, telling us is the fastest way to get it fixed.
Frequently asked questions
Is the DoseRoutine compare tool free?
Yes. Pick any two compounds from the search box and DoseRoutine shows category, half-life, typical timing, food rules, and whether they're injectable or controlled, side by side, at no cost and without an account. Signing up free adds saving the comparison and tracking either compound in your own routine.
What compounds can I compare?
Any two entries in the DoseRoutine library — peptides, hormones including TRT, vitamins, minerals, and common supplements. Search by name or a known alias in either column; the tool excludes whichever compound is already selected on the other side so you can't compare an item against itself.
Does the comparison tool check for interactions between the two compounds?
No, the compare page shows facts side by side — half-life, timing, food rules, and goal tags — but it does not run an interaction check. Use the DoseRoutine interaction checker, or add both compounds to a routine, to see whether that specific pair has a documented caution.
Can I link directly to a specific comparison?
Yes. Once both compounds are selected, the page URL includes both slugs as query parameters, so the exact comparison can be bookmarked or shared and will load with the same two compounds already picked.
Where do the half-life and timing numbers come from?
They come from the same compound profiles used throughout the DoseRoutine library, each with its own sourcing. Open either compound's full profile from the comparison to see the underlying detail and citations rather than just the summary row shown in the table.
